Meet the Artist
In a world of mass-production, Target shelves, and Amazon deliveries, it is nearly impossible to own your own unique style.
But Kathy likes being different than the rest.
From being an early adopter of homeschooling her children, to chopping and stacking wood with great satisfaction, to pulling weeds as a hobby, Kathy—known as “Emmie” to her grandchildren—naturally falls into rhythms that are unique to her. She has even been accused of “reducing the square footage” of her home through habitual painting of new wall colors. She lives her life loving variety and change.
So it makes sense each Copper Loft “Signature” earrings is a little different as well.
Kathy’s Signature Designs are individually hand wrought and painted to be as unique as she sees her world to be—and as distinctive and beautiful as her customers.
Set yourself apart with the artistry of Kathy’s concepts.
The Copper Loft Story
Copper Loft Designs was born from the icy remnants of a hail storm, a damaged roof, and the dusty corners of a husband’s storage loft.
Let us explain.
You see, Kathy’s husband, Joseph, doesn’t like for anything to go to waste. He was raised by Depression Era parents where very little was thrown away and everything (eventually) had a purpose. So, when the damage to the roof of their home was repaired, Joseph jumped at the chance to salvage the copper flashing the roofing crew had removed. Kathy just rolled her eyes.
That copper gathered dust in Joseph’s garage loft for six years ...
In the Spring of 2019, Kathy had just retired from homeschooling her sixth child. The house was finally quiet, but not Kathy’s imagination. As she puts it now:
“Copper Loft Designs is the product of thirty years of pent up artistic creativity.”
She still vividly remembers the moment she decided to climb the stairs into the loft and cut into the copper flashing. With slight trepidation and very old tin snips, Copper Loft Designs was born on a 4” x 4” cut-out weathered piece of copper!
The rest was quite literally history—because it’s history that she’s been painting on for years now.
